Widespread Panic announced details of Vail 1996, the 20th installment of the Widespread Panic multi-track series. Set for release on CD, nugs and all major streaming services on Friday, May 1, the forthcoming set chronicles a show from the band’s legendary Sit n’ Ski Tour.

The Sit n’ Ski Tour was a 20-date outing in which the band visited mountain towns in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, giving fans (and the band) the opportunity to ski during the day and watch Panic at night. John Bell, Michael Houser and Dave Schools performed from seated positions and strapped on acoustic for portions of each concert.

Vail 1996 collects every note Widespread Panic played at Garton’s in Vail, Colorado on January 29, 1996. The three-night stand in Vail — which ended on January 29 — marked the halfway point of the Sit n’ Ski Tour.

John Keane mixed and mastered Vail 1996 from the original multi-track tapes. A 2-CD set is available for pre-order now along with a commemorative poster designed by Jason Clements.
