Ween shared the previously unreleased demo of their beloved song “Voodoo Lady.” The track is one of 15 demos and outtakes featured in the forthcoming Chocolate & Cheese (Deluxe Edition).

Originally released in 1994, Ween’s fourth studio album is getting the deluxe reissue treatment to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Chocolate & Cheese (Deluxe Edition) arrives via Rhino Records on August 2.

Chocolate & Cheese was the first Ween album to feature drummer Claude Coleman Jr. and first recorded in a professional studio. Claude Coleman Jr. has been the band founded by Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman and Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo’s drummer ever since.

Ween found commercial success with 1992’s Pure Guava LP and its single “Push th’ Little Daises.” The latter and “Voodoo Lady” are the only two Ween songs to have charted. “Voodoo Lady” made it to number 32 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Track chart.

“Voodoo Lady” is a live staple for Ween with only five other songs played more by the band in concert. The tune is usually a springboard to a bit of improvisation. The demo has the feel of earlier Ween recordings thanks to its lo-fi sound and use of a drum machine.

Ween returns to the stage on August 2 for the first of two shows at KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner, Montana. The band canceled April tour dates to give Deaner time to “preserve [his] mental and spiritual well being.”
