Ween Concludes 2017 Visit To San Francisco
On Thursday, Ween played their second of two concerts at The Masonic in San Francisco. The band delivered a 32-song performance that included at least one tune from each of their studio albums with the exception of 12 Golden Country Greats. Once again Dean Ween used a custom Alembic guitar he had debuted the previous evening.
Ween opened with “Roses Are Free” marking just the second time they’ve opened with the Chocolate & Cheese favorite. “Push Th’ Little Daisies” came next along with “What Deaner Was Talkin’ About.” Following “The Mollusk,” the five-piece played the recently revived “Seconds.” Up next was “The Stallion, Pt. 1,” a song performed by Ween once ahead of their 2012 breakup that has become a staple since they reunited last year.
The set continued on with a mix of heavy rotation gems such as “Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy),” “Pork Roll Egg & Cheese,” “Ocean Man” and “The Argus” along with rarer material including “Puerto Rican Power,” “Up On The Hill,” “Tick” and “Wayne’s Pet Youngin.” Guitarist Gene Ween played a solo rendition of “Baby Bitch” towards the end of the set. The night concluded with a three-song encore consisting of “Exactly Where I’m At,” “Big Jilm” and “I Can’t Put My Finger On It.” Ween is scheduled to perform at Music Tastes Good in Long Beach on Saturday.
