Weekly RecommNeds | Causa Sui and Dustin Wong

Alright, alright, now we’re into the good shit. As far as brain-melting, psychedelic instrumental music, it probably gets no better than Europie Tide from Denmark’s Causa Sui. This is jammed out cuisine from another planet: guitar, bass and drums mixed together in some secret Danish recipe that’ll have you begging for seconds. Glorious, intelligent, intense, beautiful, rocking… this is, indeed, the good shit.

Dustin Wong –Mediation of Ecstatic Energy

We can do awe-inspiring instrumental music on this side of the Atlantic. Look no further than Dustin Wong whose Mediation of Ecstatic Energy is an exercise in inspiration and awe. Wong is a one-man band, looping and overdubbing simple guitar riffs and spinning the result into an intricate, gorgeous web of music. The tracks are linear, building up from single strands into elaborate jaw-dropping soundscapes that tickle the ear while ensnaring your brain. One of my favorite albums of the year, highly recommended.
