Today, Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield) released an expanded edition of her 2020 studio album, Saint Cloud, via Merge Records. Saint Cloud +3 features three new cover songs.
Crutchfield recorded covers of “Fruits Of My Labor” by Lucinda Williams, Dolly Parton’s “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets Of Philadelphia” for inclusion on Saint Cloud +3. Lucinda Williams originally released “Fruits Of My Labor” on her 2003 studio album, World Without Tears, while Parton’s “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning” initially appeared on 1977’s New Harvest…First Gathering. Bruce Springsteen contributed “Streets Of Philadelphia” to the soundtrack of the 1993 film Philadelphia.

Waxahatchee released Saint Cloud on March 27. Crutchfield celebrated the one-year anniversary of the LP with a livestream concert on Saturday. Saint Cloud was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas and Long Pond in Stuyvesant, New York with producer Brad Cook. Katie enlisted Bonny Doon’s Bobby Columbo and Bill Lennox as well as Josh Kaufman and Nick Kinsey as her band for the sessions.
