Watch One Of Trey Anastasio’s First Solo Acoustic Sets

By Scott Bernstein Jan 27, 2017 1:32 pm PST

Phish frontman Trey Anastasio recently revealed his first series of solo acoustic headlining dates. While Trey has played a number of solo sets in the past both leading up to electric performances and at festivals, the three March concerts are the first full headlining solo acoustic gigs from the guitarist.

So, what can we expect from Trey Anastasio’s solo acoustic evenings in Northampton, Massacusetts; Troy, New York and Portsmouth, New Hampshire? In the Spring of 1999 Trey Anastasio embarked on his first solo tour. Each first set was performed solo acoustic style before he brought out drummer Russ Lawton and bassist Tony Markellis for the second set and encore. For today’s Full Show Friday we look at the Chicago stop from Trey Anastasio’s first ever solo tour on May 6, 1999 at the Riviera Theatre. While he has written many songs since, the first set provides a bit of a feel for what the guitarist’s solo performance will be like.
