Warren Haynes announced details of his forthcoming solo album, Million Voices Whisper, which will be released on November 1 via Fantasy Records. Haynes also shared “This Life As We Know It,” the LP’s lead single.

The Gov’t Mule frontman recorded his fourth solo album and first in almost a decade at Power Station New England. Haynes is backed on Million Voices Whisper by members of his current Warren Haynes Band ensemble — keyboardist John Medeski of Medeski Martin & Wood, renowned NOLA drummer Terence Higgins and Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott.

As reported, Haynes was joined in the studio by guitarist Derek Trucks. Warren’s longtime The Allman Brothers Band mate contributed to three tracks on the album that were co-produced with Haynes. One of those songs is “Real Real Love,” which was originally co-written with Gregg Allman. Warren utilized songwriting techniques favored by Gregg to complete the tune as if Allman was singing it.

Additionally, Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson are featured on Million Voices Whisper cut “Day of Reckoning.” Plus, touring backup vocalist Saundra Williams lent her voice to multiple tracks including “This Life As We Know It.”

“It felt great to go into the studio to capture this material with this new band who are all fantastic players,” said Haynes. “This album is quite different than my previous solo records. There’s a lot of soul music influence but very song oriented with subtle nods to a few of my heroes. And what a treat to get back into the studio with my brother Derek. Big shoutout to him as well as Lukas and Jamey for being a part of it. I’m really proud of this new album.”

“This Life As We Know It” is an inspiring song that urges listeners to stay in the moment and look on the bright side of life. Warren Haynes’ soaring slide guitar provides a beautiful touch on top of the music. “It has a very uplifting message and musically, as well, it is just a very positive feeling song,” Haynes added. “One that I feel we can all relate to. It’s about moving forward and getting past a lot of things but feeling good about life and feeling good about yourself.”

The new single arrived with a video filmed in the studio featuring footage of Haynes and his solo band recording the song. Watch the “This Life As We Know It” clip and stream the studio version below:
