Last night, keyboardist Nigel Hall played a hometown show at The Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans billed as the “Nigel Hall Experience.” The longtime Lettuce collaborator put together a band for the occasion and welcomed a handful of special guests including guitarist Warren Haynes over the course of the evening.
Nigel Hall was backed by a band featuring Derwin Perkins, Donnie Sundal, Eric Vogel, Jamison Ross, Weedie Braimah, Brad Walker and Eric “Benny” Bloom at Howlin’ Wolf last night. Hall and his mates focused on material from Nigel’s recently released solo debut Ladies & Gentlemen including “Gimme A Sign,” “Don’t Change For Me” and “Too Sweet.”
Vocalist and fellow frequent Lettuce contributor Alecia Chakour of the Tedeschi Trucks Band emerged towards the beginning of the set to help Nigel and the band on a cover of Ann Peebles’ “I Can’t Stand The Rain.” Later in the evening, Haynes and Terence Higgins added to the funk workout “Chariot.” Nigel Hall was a member of Haynes’ The Warren Haynes Band outfit which supported the guitarist’s Man In Motion LP.
