The 20th annual Gathering Of The Vibes continued on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Billy & The Kids played an afternoon set at the festival featuring a pair of special guests and only containing songs that were not performed at any of the five Fare Thee Well – Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead shows earlier this summer.

Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his band of bassist Reed Mathis, keyboardist Aron Magner and guitarist Tommy Hamilton took the stage just after 5:30 with “Here Comes Sunshine.” Hamiton sang the opener as he did the “Cold Rain & Snow” that followed. Mathis had his turn fronting the band on “Ramble On Rose” and “Mama Tried” which segued into “Mexicali Blues.” The quartet then played “Greatest Story Ever Told” before welcoming Eric Krasno for “Dancing In The Streets.” Next, Tommy led the group on “Black Muddy River” and “Women Are Smarter.” The 90 minute set came to a close with a cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” featuring special guest Warren Haynes on guitar and vocals.

We’ll have much more on Saturday at Gathering Of The Vibes including Haynes’ super jam tomorrow. Here’s photos from Friday’s collaboration-heavy action at Vibes.
