Getting Funky In France: Watch Vulfpeck Perform At Jazz à Vienne 2024

Vulfpeck has maintained a relatively light touring schedule so far this year, focusing mainly on festival appearances around the world. Last month, the funk outfit originally from Michigan was on the lineup of the 2024 Jazz à Vienne festival in Vienne, France and pro-shot video of that performance has surfaced.

The collective consisting of multi-instrumentalists Jack Stratton and Theo Katzman, bassist Joe Dart, keyboardist Woody Goss, guitarist Cory Wong and frequent collaborators, vocalist Antwaun Stanley and saxophonist/keyboardist Joey Dosik, performed at Théâtre Antique on July 16.

The set saw guest musician Fanny Martin taking a flute solo during “Funky Duck.” Vocalist Jacob Jeffries also came out to sing his part on “How Much Do You Love Me?,” which appeared on Stratton’s Vulfmon album Vulfnik.

The main set included Katzman leading a multi-part audience sing-along during “Christmas In L.A.” At the end of the set, the receptive audience kept the closer “Dean Town” going during the first encore break, leading to a “Dean Town” reprise once the band returned to the stage.

Up next for Vulfpeck is an appearance at the Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival on September 15 in Templeton, California. Following that performance, the band intends to record the follow-up to their 2022 album, Schvitz, during a series of concerts at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
