Vulfpeck vocalist Antwaun Stanley delivered a stripped down concert at Mercury Lounge in New York City on August 2. Accompanied by just a keyboardist, Stanley offered a mix of originals and covers.

Antwaun opened the concert with a pair of songs, “Speed Of Night” and “Lost In Translation” from his collaborative EP, Ascension, with musician/producer Tyler Duncan. After “United,” Stanley covered the Marvin Gaye classic, “What’s Going On.”

A track, “Pleasin,” the vocalist recorded with Vulfpeck bandmate Cory Wong came next ahead of a rendition of Swatkins “Bright Light.” Stanley then offered “Work It Out” and “Lord Will Make A Way” before welcoming vocalist Hannah Winkler for Vulfpeck’s “Simple Step.”

Stanley continued the Vulfpeck material with “1612,” “Wait For The Moment” and the band’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “Gotta Serve Somebody,” from their latest studio album Schvitz. Antwaun closed his set with the Carole King classic, “You’ve Got a Friend,” with vocalist Sammy Rae.
