Van Halen hadn’t played since a June 26th, 2012 performance in New Orleans. On Saturday night they delivered a 20-song, 90-minute set that was heavy on their pre-Sammy Hagar hits such as “Runnin’ With The Devil,” “Hot For Teacher,” “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love” and “Jump.” All four members of the band took the stage wearing matching outfits, though lead singer David Lee Roth changed by the time the show was over.
Fan-shot video of “Jump” and “Unchained” has surfaced:
As for Joel, who has mentioned multiple times that he was using the Sydney gig to see whether he wants to keep performing, he also delivered a career-spanning set that only included a few deeper cuts. The Piano Man also treated fans to a cover of “Highway To Hell” by Australian icons AC/DC that was sung by Jon Stevens.
