Unknown Mortal Orchestra Unveil “Shakedown Street” At The Greek In Berkeley

Global rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra finished a busy year of touring by teaming with Aussie psych-rockers Tame Impala for a pair of shows at The Greek in Berkeley on Friday and Saturday nights. The band honored local heroes the Grateful Dead by performing “Shakedown Street” at both concerts.

UMO contributed their funky, upbeat take on “Shakedown Street” to Day Of The Dead, a massive compilation of Grateful Dead covers that was released earlier this year. The group went on to perform the song on TBS late night talk show Conan back in June and issued an official video for the tune last month. UMO’s performances of “Shakedown Street” at The Greek are thought to be the first time the band played the Dead cover live during one of their own sets.
