Umphrey’s McGee has announced they will present the “Star Spangled Banner” before the New York Knicks NBA game at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday, January 20. The band will sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the matchup between the Knicks and the visiting Utah Jazz. Umphrey’s McGee will be in town for a three-night stand scheduled in NYC at the Beacon Theatre on January 21, 22 and 23.
The members of UM are well versed in singing the Anthem before major sporting events, having taken on the task before several Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball games. Read a recap of their last trip to Wrigley Field where they sang the “Star Spangled Banner” before a Cubs game in August of last year here, and watch them handle the National Anthem and “God Bless America” at Wrigley back in 2009 below:
The Knicks take on the Jazz beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on January 20. Tickets are available here.
