Umphrey’s McGee headlined the action at the inaugural 4848 Festival on Saturday at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia. The band was joined by Billy Strings and members of Greensky Bluegrass for the penultimate song of their main set.
The sextet kicked off their 4848 Festival performance with the instrumental intro “October Rain” leading into “Dump City.” Next up was just the third “White Man’s Moccasins” of 2019 and an expansive “Der Bluten Kat” featuring “Much Obliged” within. The run of classics continued with “Higgins” and only the second “Bad Poker” of the past two years.

Billy Strings emerged on guitar along with Greensky’s Anders Beck on dobro and Paul Hoffman on mandolin for the beloved “Nothing Too Fancy.” Each guest had a chance to solo before UM went on to finish the set by themselves with their recently debuted cover of Soundgarden’s “Outshined.” An extended encore featured “2×2,” an “In The Kitchen” that included a jam on Motley Crue’s “Dr. Feelgood” and a “The Floor” finale.
