Ty Segall Drums Up New Album & Confirms 2025 Solo Acoustic Tour Dates

Ty Segall will issue a new album, Love Rudiments, on August 30 via Drag City. The multi-talented musician previewed the percussive instrumental record with “The Dance (Edit).”

The follow up to the prolific artist’s 2024 triple LP, Three Bells, the aptly named Love Rudiments is a rumination on Segall’s first love, the drums. While he’s known as a singing guitar player, his recording process generally starts with percussion.

“Drums are a melodic instrument too,” press materials for Love Rudiments noted. “Ty plays them with precision and sensitivity, delving deep into the textures of timpani, vibraphone, xylophone, percussion and e-drums, all of them occupying space within the luxe stereo spread of the drumkit. In the process, a psychological space is opened: a private emotional location where only two can meet.”

Lead single “The Dance (Edit)” is an excerpt from one of four movements found on Love Rudiments. “The song manifests a range of moods found in the couple’s first dance,” as per the press release, “attraction, anxiety, arousal, and convergence — expressed on the kit, vibraphone, tambourine, wood blocks and electronic drum pads by Ty.”

Ty Segall also announced a slate of solo acoustic (guitar) tour dates set for winter and spring 2025. Kicking off on February 20 in San Diego, among the stops on the coast-to-coast North American trek are San Francisco, Vancouver, Austin, Nashville, Brooklyn, Chicago and Denver. The tour wraps on April 30 in Boise, Idaho.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 12 at 11 a.m. CT.
