Ty Segall will roll out a new album, Chrome, on August 28 through Drag City alongside a companion EP, Love Fuzzz. The LP is previewed today with the single “Black Paint.”
After releasing his 2025 album, Possession, guitarist Ty Segall convened his full band — Ben Boye, Evan Burrows, Mikal Cronin and Emmett Kelly — at Sonic Ranch in the borderlands of Texas for the Chrome sessions with Cooper Crain (Bitchin Bajas, Stereolab) at the helm.
Chrome “is a death-defying dive into Ty’s surrealist worlds and dark apocalyptic passages, thumping in the monstrous vein of records like Slaughterhouse and Twins,” a press release noted.
In the course of six days tracking the record, the band also captured the Love Fuzzz EP, containing two extended cuts, a new take on “Love Fuzzz,” off Segall’s 2012 LP Twins, and the 14-minute “My Pet Guru.”
Lead single “Black Paint” heralds Chrome and is made up of “ship-sinking guitars” and “riffs jangling into bumping, full-fuzzed grungiosity,” as per press materials.
“Black Paint” arrived with a music video featuring live footage captured by Alex Bulli. Watch below:
