Twiddle shared pro-shot video of “Doinkinbonk!!!” recorded during their recent visit to Chicago’s Park West. The footage, captured by MK Devo, comes from the first set on November 13.
A Twiddle setlist staple dating back to 2009, “Doinkinbonk!!!” was recorded for the band’s 2011 studio album, Somewhere On The Mountain. The mid-first set performance of “Doinkinbonk!!!” at Park West followed Twiddle’s debut cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb.”
The four members of Twiddle delivered the collectively sung beginning of “Doinkinbonk!!!” before stretching out into an expansive improvisation. Guitarist Mihali Savoulidis initially steered the jam with rapid-fire playing that was balanced by Ryan Dempsey’s responsive keyboard work that included a “When The Saints Go Marching In” tease. Bassist Zdenek Gubb and drummer Brook Jordan stayed in lockstep throughout the dynamic improv that journeyed through a variety of tempos and themes.
