Twiddle concluded their “Frendsgiving” run at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Saturday. The Vermont-based quartet welcomed guitarist Jake Brownstein of opening band Eggy and frequent collaborator Scott Hannay to debut an Elton John song.

Twiddle got things underway with a fitting food-themed opening segment of the vintage “Blueberry Tumble” and newer tune “GooBerry Jelly.” A pairing of “Hattie’s Jam” and “When It Rains It Pours” followed ahead of “Daydream Farmer,” which contained a tease of Papadosio’s “Find Your Cloud.” New originals “Earned To Keep,” which Twiddle recently unveiled in Denver, “Mildew Man” and “Stroganoff” (the latter also debuted in Denver) capped off the first frame.

Twiddle kicked off the second set with “Complacent Race” followed by “Collective Pulse.” The quartet then offered an apt “The Frends Theme” before welcoming Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein for the funky instrumental “Latin Tang.” Keyboardist Ryan Dempsey served up some synth stylings and Twiddle guitarist Mihali Savoulidis worked in a tease of Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child” on what would have been Jimi’s 79th birthday. Brownstein would shine with some soaring soloing during the jam. Jake and Mihali also teamed uo for some guitar fireworks to put an exclamation point on the tune.

Brownstein then sat down at the pedal steel and Twiddle welcomed frequent collaborator Scott Hannay on piano for the Twiddle debut of Elton’ John’s “Tiny Dancer.” Mihali would get The Cap singing along a la Almost Famous on the Elton classic. Twiddle then went it alone for set-closer, “Brown Chicken Brown Cow,” which contained a “Zazu’s Flight” reprise, a call back to the Frendsgiving opener. The quartet returned to the stage for an encore of “Beethoven And Greene.”
