Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras are both the creators and stars of a sitcom titled Nobodies currently airing on the TV Land cable network. Phish was referenced in the two most recent episodes of the show which is produced by the husband/wife team of Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy.

Larry, Hugh and Rachel, three actor/comedians, play fictionalized versions of themselves trying to hit it big with their script for a film titled Mr. First Lady. They scored Falcone and McCarthy’s participation in the film early in the season and Melissa says the trio must meet with her producing partner, Howard Lang, a bigwig in the industry. Last week’s episode featured the first meeting between Lang and the threesome. It isn’t going well until Larry Dorf breaks the ice by noticing a poster for Phish’s August 2, 2015 concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama hanging on the producer’s wall. The two make small talk about their fandom with Lang noting, “I met Trey in ’95…Deer Creek” at which point Dorf responds “I was at that show!”

Now that Howard and Larry have Phish in common, the screenwriters have one of the “in”s they’ll need to get power player to produce Mr. First Lady. The producer sends Larry an email with a link to video of a Phish concert and soon the pair become workout buddies. Without giving away too much of the plot line, let’s just say Howard dies before he has a chance to produce the film. This week’s episode picks up at Howard’s funeral and we find out all four members of Phish performed live as the producer’s coffin was being lowered into the ground.
