Nine-piece powerfunk outfit Turkuaz released the old school sounding studio album Digitonium last year and recently a group of dedicated fans noticed the LP syncs up nicely with the 1963 Disney animated film The Sword In The Stone. Said fans went the extra mile and synced the album with the movie. Head here to watch the whole thing.
The mashup follows in the footsteps of such other infamous syncs as Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon album with the Wizard Of Oz film. Fans noticed the Digitonium/Sword In The Stone connection via the lyrics found on the LP which include references to King Arthur’s father Uther, Arthur’s mentor Merlin aka “Whiz Bang Wizard” and other references to characters, songs and spells found in the movie throughout the album.
Turkuaz has yet to issue an official statement about the mashup. Tonight, the Brooklyn-based band continues its Winter Tour at the Old Rock House in St. Louis. Upcoming dates include a three-night hometown run at NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl April 7 – 9.
