Trout Steak Revival To Appear On ‘Today’ Show

By Scott Bernstein Nov 4, 2015 11:00 am PST

Starting Friday Today show weatherman Al Roker will embark upon Rokerthon 2 in which he’ll aim to break a world record for the fastest time to report a weather forecast from all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia over the course of a week. Rokerthon 2 has a pair of connections to the jam world as a Colorado jamgrass act will appear on the show and a video for the promotion includes both Phish and Grateful Dead references.

On Monday, November 9, Roker will provide weather forecasts live from Four Corners Monument every half hour during the first half of the Today show and will feature musical and cultural highlights from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. Colorado-based bluegrass band Trout Steak Revival plans to perform live on the show from the Four Corners Monument. Coloradans are encouraged to attend and fill out the Colorado quadrant. The Colorado Tourism Office will provide Colorado hats and flags to Colorado audience members on a first-come, first-served basis, and audience members are also urged to bring signs and wear Colorado logo clothing or colorful ski and snowboard wear. Those interested in attending should plan to arrive by 4:30 a.m. MT and can RSVP to Carly Holbrook at carly.holbrook@state.co.us so the CTO can gauge a headcount.

A promo for Rokerthon 2 that has aired on NBC networks features credits at the end. See if any of the names stick out to you:

Take a closer look and you’ll see music supervisor August West, a reference to the Grateful Dead’s “Wharf Rat” and executive producer in charge of transportation Harry “Hoodie” Hood, a reference to Phish’s “Harry Hood.”
