Update April 15: Mystikal
and Kermit Ruffins
have been named as additional guests for the Threauxdown. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
have headlined dozens of venues in their hometown of New Orleans over the years, but have yet to headline at one of Crescent City’s most historic venues -the Saenger Theatre. Shorty and the band will finally headline the Saenger, located near where the trombonist grew up, on April 25 for an event dubbed “Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue Treme Threauxdown.” Today, a number of special guests slated to perform with the ensemble have been announced.[Photo by Jeremy Williams]
Allen Toussaint, Ivan Neville and New Breed Brass Band will each join Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue onstage April 25th. A press release announcing the guests mentions “Additional special guests are expected to join Trombone Shorty and his band for the Threauxdown.” With all the musicians scheduled to be in New Orleans during Jazz Fest, there’s no lack of options.
