Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio will be the musical guest on an upcoming episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Anastasio’s performance on Tuesday, August 11 comes in support of the his recently released album, Lonely Trip.
While host Jimmy Fallon and house band The Roots are back to filming at the show’s home base of 30 Rock in New York City, musical performances have been filmed elsewhere during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Anastasio wrote and recorded Lonely Trip between March and July while self-quarantining at his home in NYC. The album is a time capsule of Trey’s experience during the pandemic.
Orlando Bloom will also appear on Tuesday’s episode of Fallon. Both Phish and the Trey Anastasio Band have performed on late night shows hosted by Jimmy Fallon. Notably, TAB covered The Five Stairsteps’ “O-o-h Child” in the aftermath of 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, while Phish covered “Loving Cup” for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’s Rolling Stones Week two years prior.
