Trey Anastasio Shares New Song ‘Evolve’

Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio premiered another new song, “Evolve.” Anastasio put together a lo-fi lyric video for the song using markers, scissors and paper.
“Evolve” was penned by Trey and longtime collaborators Tom Marshall and Scott Herman. The song is the latest in a string of tunes composed while Anastasio is isolated in his New York City apartment. “Please be safe everyone, and despite repeating myself, I again send my deepest love to every family dealing with loss this morning,” the guitarist wrote in a note accompanying the video. “I’m hoping that some fun and hopeful music strikes the right chord.”

Anastasio called the new song “a history lesson” and explained the tune’s alternate title is “How This All Happened.” A preface reads, “Join us! As… Our creator looks back … and realizes that he … or she or it completely screwed up. The creator speaks!” Watch the “Evolve” video below:
