The Beacon Theatre previously hosted Trey Anastasio’s “The Beacon Jams,” a series of eight weekly livestream concerts that took place every Friday evening between October 9 and November 27, 2020. Phish made their debut at the venue and played what stills stands as their only Beacon Theatre shows on April 13 – 15, 1994. Anastasio first brought the Trey Anastasio Band to The Beacon on October 26, 2012 and returned with the group in 2014, 2017 and 2019 ahead of last year’s “The Beacon Jams” series.
Trey, an NYC resident, will be the first artist to play a full-capacity show at The Beacon. On May 17, Executive Chairman and CEO of venue operator MSG Entertainment (MSGE) Jim Dolan announced that MSGE would begin booking shows at 100% capacity with a fully vaccinated audience – in hopes that the company could begin to pave the way for others – as part of the state’s efforts to get live music going again in New York.
Next up for Trey is a three-night stand at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York June 18 – 20. The concerts at SPAC will be Anastasio’s first in front of live, in-person audiences since Phish capped their Riviera Maya destination event on February 23, 2020.
