Trey Anastasio Band Performs ‘Set Your Soul Free’ At 2020 Run In New Orleans: Pro-Shot Video
The Trey Anastasio Band ended their first and last tour of 2020 one year today in New Orleans, where they brought a two-night stand at The Civic Theatre to a close. Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio unveiled pro-shot video of “Set Your Soul Free” from the first night in New Orleans yesterday on the one-year anniversary of the show.
Anastasio and TAB’s penultimate Winter Tour 2020 show in NOLA featured a number of tour debuts and rarities. The ensemble dusted off covers of The Band’s “It Makes No Difference” and Neil Young’s “Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown” for the first time since 2017 and 2008, respectively. Additionally, Trey led his group through the TAB debut of “Evening Song” and unearthed “Words To Wanda” after the song had been shelved for over five years. “Evening Song” was premiered by Phish the previous month during the quartet’s New Year’s Run at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Phish would go on to include “Evening Song” on their 2020 album, Sigma Oasis.
“Set Your Soul Free” was played towards the end of TAB’s second set on January 31, 2020. The band didn’t stray far from the song’s structure over the course of six minutes. “Sand” followed to the close out the frame before an encore consisting of the band’s first ever “Evening Song” and repertoire staples “Valentine” and “Ghost.”
