Tinariwen Shares ‘Kel Tinawen’ Featuring Cass McCombs

Cass McCombs is featured on “Kel Tinawen,” the latest single from Tinariwen’s upcoming new album Amadjar. ANTI- Records will release the guest-filled album on September 6.

Tinariwen recorded Amadjar over two weeks in a camp on the Atlantic coast of the Sahara Desert, near Nouakchott, Mauritania. A French production team assisted the sessions utilizing a recording studio made from a converted van. Mauritanian vocalist Noura Mint Seymali and her husband, guitarist Jeiche Ould Chigaly, joined the group of Tuareg musicians during the recording sessions.

Tinariwen then reached out to other musicians to record parts for several of the album’s 13 tracks. Among those who appear on the album are Warren Ellis of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))), Micah Nelson and Rodolphe Burger.
