The War On Drugs unveiled a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Accidentally Like A Martyr” from their forthcoming live album LIVE DRUGS. The LP is due out via frontman Adam Granduciel’s Super High Quality Records label on November 20, a few days before the band launches a podcast.

Zevon released “Accidentally Like A Martyr” on his 1978 album, Excitable Boy. The War On Drugs have covered the song often since 2017. Granduciel described the original as, “so simple and true, you should ever be lucky to write a song that simple.” LIVE DRUGS contains 10 tracks sourced from hard drives featuring live recordings dating back to 2014. The album is sequenced in a way that simulates one of the group’s concerts.

The Super High Quality Podcast features four installments that will air weekly starting on Monday, November 23. The War On Drugs “talk casually about how they arrived at the performances and the decision to release their new live album” with guitar tech Dominic East throughout.
