One week after the release of a new single, The War On Drugs have confirmed an extensive tour of North America and Europe. The shows will support a new album that according to a press release “will be coming soon.”
Issued for Record Store Day, the single “Thinking Of A Place,” was the first new The War On Drugs material since frontman Adam Granduciel released the full-length Lost In The Dream in 2014. The 11-minute debut for Atlantic Records was written and produced by Granduciel and mixed by Shawn Everett.
Granduciel, Robbie Bennett, Dave Hartley, Charlie Hall, Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez will set out on tour beginning with a hometown Philadelphia show on September 21. They will spend the rest of the month making stops in New York City, Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Austin. In October, The War On Drugs will play shows at the Greek Theatres in Los Angeles and Berkeley, before heading to Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City and Denver. A Midwest swing begins in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 18, followed by stops in Chicago, Columbus, Ohio and Toronto.
A European leg begins November 2 in Amsterdam and continues in several other countries throughout the month, culminating on November 27 in Stockholm. A fan-presale for tickets begins on Monday, May 1 at 10 a.m. local time. General on-sale for U.S. tickets begins Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. local.
