By Andy Kahn Mar 4, 2017 • 6:50 am PST

Last night The String Cheese Incident held the first of two home state Winter Carnival Roots Revival Tour shows at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. For the second set, SCI presented a complete performance of their live album A String Cheese Incident which was recorded at the same venue 20 years ago.
Opening night at The Fox marked SCI’s first show at the venue, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, since 2004 and started with stripped-down arrangement of “Chili Dawg.” The first set also saw a sequence of “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance” into “Born On The Wrong Plant” and “Looking Glass” paired with “Sweet Spot.”
The second set began with “Lonesome Fiddle Blues” marking the start of a song-for-song interpretation of their live release A String Cheese Incident which was recorded at The Fox on February 27, 1997. The revisit to the live LP produced such classics as “Little Hands,” “Dudley’s Kitchen,” “Rhythm Of The Road” and a cover of “How Mountain Girls Can Love.” The set also featured the first SCI rendition of Michael Kang’s “Pirates” since 2011. A cover of “Lands End” segued into “San José” to close out the second set and a take on Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” held down the encore slot, bringing the show to an end.
SCI returns to the Fox Theatre again tonight. A webcast is available via nugs.tv. Watch the first song from each set from last evening’s webcast below:
