Here’s reason #7,924 we love Questlove: the drummer and musical director of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon house band The Roots is in charge of picking the music that accompanies guests as they walk over towards the host’s desk. On Monday night Questo dug deep to find walkover music for Tonight Show guest Nicole Richie as The Roots lit into a the chorus of the Ween rarity “Nicole.”

“Nicole” can be found on Ween’s debut 1990 album, GodWeenSatan: The Oneness, and the only documented live version took place on September 15, 2001 at John & Peter’s in the group’s hometown of New Hope, PA as part of a GodWeenSatan re-release party. Let’s take a look at The Roots introducing Nicole Richie with Ween’s “Nicole”:

And here’s the original off Ween’s debut album:

We don’t think Questlove will have any of the issues with Richie he faced when he picked Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” as walkover music for politician, and at the time Presidential Candidate, Michele Bachmann. That decision nearly led to Questo’s firing.
