The Revivalists Honor George Michael & George Harrison On New Year’s Eve In New Orleans

Crescent City rockers The Revivalists ended a triumphant 2016 and began what looks like a bright 2017 in their hometown of New Orleans on New Year’s Eve. The band worked in a pair of cover debuts along with a slew of fan favorite originals from over the course of their career during a lengthy set and encore at New Orleans’ Orpheum.
Frontman David Shaw was in fine form as the band worked its way through George Michael’s “Faith” for the first time just before midnight. Michael had passed a few days prior. A celebratory balloon drop followed the tribute to the vocalist. The Revivalists treated hometown fans to a 17-song main set along with four tunes in the encore. One of the songs in the encore was a gorgeous rendition of “All Things Must Pass” by George Harrison. Here’s hoping both covers stick around in the band’s repertoire.
