The New Mastersounds will issue a new studio album entitled Shake It via Color Red on September 13. JamBase is pleased to exclusively premiere the LP’s lead single, “Let’s Go Back” and reveal plans for NMS’ summer and fall tours, all of which come in honor of the band’s 20th anniversary.

“Let’s Go Back” is a collaboration between The New Mastersounds and vocalist Lamar Williams Jr.. Keyboardist Joe Tatton wrote the Lee Dorsey and Meters-inspired song during a late night creative session in Atlanta. “I had a late-night NMS writing session with Lamar and when we went through the original groove, based on some Lee Dorsey songs, his voice fit perfectly with the piano chords,” Tatton told JamBase. “Lyrically, this is a message that it’s never too late to go back!”
