Warren Haynes, Grace Potter and Jamey Johnson are among the performers taking part in The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration Of The 45th Anniversary Of The Band’s Historic Farewell Concert. Produced by Keith Wortman, Robbie Robertson, Sebastian Robertson and Blackbird Presents, the show will take place during Jazz Fest at New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre on Saturday, May 7.

Don Was, Dave Malone, John Medeski, Cyril Neville, Terence Higgins, Bob Margolin and Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns are also part of the all-star lineup for the tribute to The Band’s famed 1976 Thanksgiving Concert. Margolin took part in the original show which was documented in The Last Waltz, a concert film directed by Martin Scorsese. Acclaimed NOLA musicians George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville will each make guest appearances.

“New Orleans has always felt like a second home to me musically and spiritually,” explained The Band co-founder Robbie Robertson in a statement. “I am honored to have this extraordinary lineup of musicians celebrate the tradition of The Last Waltz in one of my favorite cities.”

“We’ve waited two years to get back to presenting the greatest shows in New Orleans during this time of year,” added Wortman of Blackbird Presents. “When it came time to decide on the show for this year we knew it had to be extra special, so we knew it had to be the Last Waltz with this lineup of musicians.” The event was previously supposed to be held in 2020 and follows The Last Waltz celebrations and tours organized by Blackbird Presents between 2016 and 2019.
