The Killers will release their new album, Pressure Machine, on August 13 via Island Records. The Brandon Flowers fronted band also announced 2022 tour dates.
The Killers co-produced Pressure Machine along with Shawn Everett and Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado, who also helped the band produce their previous album, 2020’s Imploding The Mirage. The new LP sees Brandon Flowers reflecting on the small town — Nephi, Utah — where he lived from age 10 to 16, aided by the contemplative quietness brought on by the pandemic.
“Everything came to this grinding halt,” Flowers said about the pandemic in a statement. “And it was the first time in a long time for me that I was faced with silence. And out of that silence this record began to bloom, full of songs that would have otherwise been too quiet and drowned out by the noise of typical Killers records.”

Pressure Machine is a character study on lives lived in Nephi, a town with no traffic lights. “Had it not been for advancements in the automotive industry, Nephi in the ’90s could have been the 1950s,” Flowers said of the small Utah town.
Nephi also became a metaphor for the isolation of the pandemic, as drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. explained. “We were discussing [Brandon] moving to Nephi as a kid and being stuck in the middle of nowhere,” he said. “And during Covid-19, it started to feel like we were all in the middle of nowhere.”
“I discovered this grief that I hadn’t dealt with,” Flowers continued, “many memories of my time in Nephi are tender. But the ones tied to fear or great sadness were emotionally charged. I’ve got more understanding now than when we started the band, and hopefully I was able to do justice to these stories and these lives in this little town that I grew up in.”
The Killers will be bringing songs from Pressure Machine, Imploding the Mirage and the rest of their catalog out on the road with them when they embark on their North American Tour in 2022. The tour gets underway in Vancouver on August 22, 2022 and will include stops in major markets throughout the U.S. and Canada including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Boston and more. The tour will wrap up on October 8, 2022 in Detroit.
