Jeff Tweedy released a new single entitled “Feel Free” from his forthcoming new triple album, Twilight Override. The Wilco frontman also asked fans to submit new lyrics to the song that he will pull from for an extended version of “Feel Free” he will issue at a later date on his Starship Casual Substack.
“Make a record with your friends, sing a song that never ends,” Jeff Tweedy sings towards the end of the breezy “Feel Free.” Tweedy plays off the words with the fan-submitted lyrics project. Override Jeff’s lyrics by writing a couplet and share it on this page. The singer-songwriter will select his favorites for inclusion in the extended version.

“Feel Free” is the fifth advance taste of Twilight Override, which is due out on September 26 via dBpm Records. The sprawling, 30-song collection was recorded and self-produced by Jeff Tweedy at The Loft in Chicago, with engineering and mixing from Tom Schick. Jeff’s children Spencer and Sammy Tweedy contributed to his first solo album since 2020’s Love Is The King, as did his fellow Chicago-based collaborators James Elkington, Sima Cunningham, Macie Stewart and Liam Kazar.
“The freedom I’m talking about in this song comes in both small doses and large doses. It arrives at me, at the most free I feel in my life. Which is making a record with my friends and singing a song that I feel like is a part of the past, present and future,” Jeff Tweedy said regarding “Feel Free.”
Tweedy tapped Lance Bangs to direct a performance video for “Feel Free” that was issued today to accompany the single. Spencer Tweedy, Sammy Tweedy, Sima Cunningham, Macie Stewart and Liam Kazar co-star with Jeff Tweedy in the visual.
