Greensky Bluegrass and The Infamous Stringdusters continued their 2022 winter tour at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday. Greensky welcomed Dusters dobro player Andy Hall to help close out the first set.
Greensky got the show underway with the opener, “Absence Of Reason,” from their recently released 2022 album, Stress Dreams. The first set also included Stress Dreams closer “Reasons To Stay” ahead of the rarity “Old Glory” off the band’s 2004 debut album Less Than Supper. Staple “Burn Them” then came ahead of “Do Harm” before Greensky welcomed Andy Hall.

Members of The Infamous Stringdusters have joined GSBG throughout the tour and Wednesday’s show in Louisville saw a number of collaborative configurations culminating in a full-band Dusters sit-in for the encore. Thursday’s show featured Hall adding dobro on a pair of GSBG staples, “Lose My Way” and “Fixin’ To Ruin,” to bring the first frame to a close.
Greensky Bluegrass began the second set with “Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead” ahead of a pairing of “Wish I Didn’t Know” and Strees Dreams cut “New & Improved.” The quintet kept up material from the new LP in the second set with “Cut A Tooth” as well as “Give A Shit” and “Worry For You,” the latter coupled with a well-jammed “Don’t Lie,” which saw dobroist Anders Beck quoting Talking Heads “Cities” which famously references Birmingham and a “dry ice factory.” “Don’t Lie” would bring the second set to a close. Greensky Bluegrass returned to encore with “Forget Everything.”
