The Disco Biscuits Revive ‘¿Donde?’ & Jam On ‘So What’ At Caverns Finale

The Disco Biscuits wrapped up their two-night Above The Caves run on Saturday at the Caverns Above The Ground Amphitheater in Pelham, Tennessee. The livetronica quartet dusted off “¿Donde?” and jammed on Miles Davis’ “So What” for the Caverns finale.

Bisco got the first set underway with “Story Of The World,” which the band debuted in March 2000 at the storied Wetlands Preserve in New York City, a little more than a year before the venue shut its doors. Next, the quartet found their way into an inverted version of “Abraxas” before returning to “Story Of The World.” tDB then took it even further back with “Basis For A Day” (debuted in 1996) which slid into another inverted number, “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a” ahead of the conclusion of “BFAD” to close out the first frame.

The Disco Biscuits began the second set with a bust out of “¿Donde?” for the first time since December 30, 2016 for a total of 129 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. The quartet debuted the song in 2009 and it saw heavy rotation in ‘09 and ‘10 before being shelved until 2016 when it saw just two plays. Overall, tDB has only played the tune 25 times in more than 10 years. The Above The Caves’ namesake, “Above The Waves” came next, which encompassed yet another inverted song, “Jigsaw Earth.”

The band then did some jazzy jamming on the Miles Davis classic “So What,” the opening track on Miles’ landmark 1959 album, Kind of Blue. More vintage tDB followed with “Down To The Bottom,” a song that has only seen 100 plays since its debut 25 years ago. The classic contained one of Bisco’s newer songs, “Anthem,” which they unveiled during the opener of their Fall/Winter Tour 2019. A pair of tunes composed by bassist Marc Brownstein beginning with second set closer “Rock Candy” ahead of “Portal To An Empty Head” for the encore brought the Caverns run to a close.
