The Breeders headed into the California redwoods to capture their recently released Live in Big Sur performance video. The outing saw the renowned alternative rockers offering stripped-down renditions of classic songs from their acclaimed album Last Splash.

Last Splash arrived on August 30, 1993. The record peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and went platinum in June 1994. Last Splash is on numerous best albums of the ‘90s lists with Pitchfork hailing it as one of alt-rock’s “most enduring masterpieces.” The Breeders celebrated the record’s 30th anniversary last year.

The Breeders were set to perform at Big Sur’s Henry Miller Memorial Library on October 22, 2023 but the show was canceled and the band pivoted to capture the performance in the redwoods. Directed by James Brylowski, the Live at Big Sur video opens in the sylvan setting with twin sisters Kim and Kelley Deal leading the band through “Do You Love Me Now?”

The band then offers the second advance single released from the record, “Divine Hammer.” Next, The Breeders performed Last Splash’s third track, “Invisible Man,” before wrapping the redwood session with deep cut “Drivin’ on 9.”
