The Avett Brothers Perform New Song ‘Roses And Sacrifice’ On ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’

When a musical act appears on a late night television program, they usually perform their latest single or perhaps a hit from their back catalog. The Avett Brothers went a different route on last night’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, as they went with a song that isn’t commercially available in any form … yet.

Seth Avett, Scott Avett, Bob Crawford, Joe Kwon, Mike Marsh and Bonnie Avett-Rini treated the live and television audiences to a rendition of “Roses & Sacrifice.” The Avett Brothers debuted the song at Red Rocks in 2017 and then mothballed the tune until March. “Roses & Sacrifice” has been performed live at least 19 times since. Host Seth Meyers held up what appeared to be a vinyl edition of “Roses & Sacrifice,” so it’s likely the band will issue the tune as a single. A post on The Avett Brothers’ Instagram feed from October 11 read in part, “new song…coming very soon.” For now, there’s no word on the availability of a “Roses & Sacrifice” single or the band’s 10th studio album and first since 2016’s True Sadness.
