The 41st annual Telluride Jazz Festival will take place in the scenic mountain town of Telluride, Colorado August 4 – 6 at Town Park. Organizers of the event have just revealed the 2017 artist lineup.
Mavis Staples, Macy Gray and Bootsy Collins & World-Wide Funk Drive have been tapped to headline this year’s festival. Lee Fields & The Expressions, Miles Mosley + The West Coast Get Down, The Suffers, fatsO and Vaud and the Villains are among the other acts confirmed for Telluride Jazz ’17. Check out the full lineup below.
“This year is an exciting one for us as we introduce a fresh vibe and energy to the festival through a new variety of music. I’m honored to have Mavis Staples headlining our first year as the new event organizers of the Jazz Festival” said Steve Gumble, Festival Director. “Mavis Staples has a household name that crosses generations of listeners. Even with a career that spans over five decades, she’s still hard at work with new collaborations that keep her name very relevant in the music world today. In that same regard, the latest jazz album from Macy Gray presented the perfect opportunity to bring the contemporary R&B, jazz and soul singer to Telluride. Lastly, Bootsy Collins has the ideal complement of funk and soul to round out the weekend. Many of the artists he’s worked with, such as James Brown and George Clinton, have graced the Town Park stage before and we are eagerly looking forward to his first appearance in Telluride.”
Tickets are on sale now via the festival’s website.
