Taylor Swift spent the weekend performing in front of capacity crowds at Friends Arena near Stockholm, Sweden on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Swift treated each audience at the second stop of the 2024 European leg of her Eras Tour to the live premiere of a song featured on her new album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD).
The debuts of “Peter” on Friday, “Guilty as Sin?” on Saturday and “How Did It End?” on Sunday came as part of the “Surprise Songs” section of the night. Taylor Swift also performed all seven TTPD songs premiered at the European leg opener in Paris at each show in Sweden. The iconic musician calls the section Female Rage: The Musical and reportedly trademarked the phrase.

Swift’s “Surprise Songs” segment follows the portion of the night devoted to TTPD material and ahead of the final section focusing on cuts from 2022’s Midnights. On Friday, the 34-year-old artist followed a mash-up of “I Think He Knows” and “Gorgeous” by heading to the piano to premiere “Peter.” The studio version of the song is featured on the extended The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology collection.

The global pop star strapped on an acoustic guitar for the live debut and expressed her appreciation for the crowd before performing “Guilty as Sin?” for the first time. Swift then celebrated the 89th concert of the Eras Tour by mashing up 1989 cuts “Say Don’t Go,” “Welcome To New York” and “Clean” to end the evening’s “Surprise Songs” segment.

The Eras Tour visit to the Stockholm area ended last night and included a tribute to a Swedish hitmaker. Swift launched Sunday’s “Surprise Songs” interlude with a medley of her songs on which she collaborated with producer/songwriter Max Martin. Taylor reeled off solo acoustic versions of “Message in a Bottle,” “How You Get The Girl” and “New Romantics” in tribute to Martin who attended the concert last night.
Taylor Swift followed what she dubbed the “Max Martin Medley” by performing The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology track “How Did It End?” for the first time. The debut marked a huge swing in moods from the celebratory medley to the haunting balled Swift wrote with The National‘s Aaron Dessner.
