Out today from TAUK is the bombastic single “Home Of The Beast.” The song is one of seven featured on Equalizer, a new album from the prog-jam quartet that arrives one week from today on Friday, October 27.
After devoting much of 2022 and the start of 2023 to their TAUK Moore studio and live collaborations with Doom Flamingo vocalist Kanika Moore, the Long Island-based four-piece returns to their instrumental, high-octane roots on Equalizer. The band — guitarist Matt Jalbert, bassist Charlie Dolan, keyboardist Alric “A.C.” Carter and drummer Isaac Teel — issued the singles “Melvin’s Mind” and “Sound The Alarm” earlier this month.

Yesterday, TAUK officially announced the upcoming release of Equalizer, which contains all three singles put out over the past few weeks, in addition to four other new originals. Matt Jalbert shared the following in regards to Equalizer:
“Equalizer leans into the part of TAUK that is all about letting the compositions take you through a lot of twists and turns. [2021’s] Chaos Companion focused a lot on groove and texture and pushing ourselves to explore new tonal territories as a band. And of course, TAUK Moore led us down an entirely new path.
“This album is a bit of a return to some of our formative writing styles. All the guys in the band bring so much to the table and it’s just fun to throw some wild ideas out there and see how we all make sense of them together. ‘Melvin’s Mind’ and ‘The Fly’ follow a bit more of a traditional song structure, at least as far as that sort of thing goes in this band. All the others have a lot of sections, there’s a lot of combining different feels together and figuring out ways to keep a theme going throughout in some way. These are the types of songs that I have a hard time describing, which has always been like what TAUK is in a lot of ways. There’s really no purpose or meaning, these songs are about just finding joy in the wild noises us four guys can make together when we don’t set any boundaries.”
