Last month NPR Music named New Orleans-based Tank and the Bangas winners of the 2017 Tiny Desk Contest. After being selected among over 6,000 entries, frontwoman Tarriona “Tank” Ball and her band mates recently held a Tiny Desk Concert at All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen’s desk in Washington D.C.

Tank And The Bangas were selected for the third edition of the Tiny Desk Contest series by a panel of judges that included Boilen, Robin Hilton, Rita Houston, Stas THEE Boss, Talia Schlanger, Ben Hopkins, Miguel, Anthony Hamilton and BANKS. Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio was also a judge in this year’s contest.

“I immediately loved this,” Anastasio said of the Tank And The Bangas contest submission. “Tank is a force of nature, just full of joy — and her band is killing in the background.”
