Sylvan Esso Announces Shaking Out The Numb Fall Tour 2021
Sylvan Esso will hit the road later this year for the Shaking Out The Numb Fall Tour 2021. The title and lyric from a track featured on Free Love, the group’s 2020 studio album, inspired the name of the run. News of the tour arrives with a video for “Numb.”
The duo consisting of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn — who recorded a cover of Phish's “Farmhouse” for JamBase's Cluster Flies compilation — will kick off the tour at Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon on September 6. Sylvan Esso’s tour opener comes just two days after the pair host the Superjam at Bonnaroo 2021.
Additional September stops follow in Redmond (Washington), Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Denver, Tulsa, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Asheville ahead of a set at Firefly. Sylvan Esso continues the excursion with two nights in St. Paul October 26 – 27 and two nights in Madison October 29 – 30. The pair celebrate Halloween in Chicago and end the tour with November performances in Louisville, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New Haven, Washington D.C., Boston and New York City.
Samia, Local Natives and Lido Pimienta will open select dates. A Sylvan Esso fan pre-sale is set for Wednesday, May 12 with a Spotify Fan First pre-sale to follow on Thursday, May 13. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 14.
Amelia Meath co-directed the “Numb” video with acclaimed Los Angeles-based choreographer Jasmine Albuquerque. Meath is joined in the visual by a troupe of LA dancers. “I’ve always loved the pure dance videos of the TRL era and dreamed of making something that could live in that world,” Amelia said. “I’m so grateful to Jasmine and everyone at [production studio] MAAVVEN who worked with me to bring this to life, it was such a joy and I can’t wait for y’all to see it.”
