Out today from Sylvan Esso is Live At Electric Lady, a six-song collection that includes a cover of Low‘s “Will The Night” along with five reworked versions of tracks originally released on the 2022 album No Rules Sandy. The Live At Electric Lady EP arrived exclusively on Spotify with in-studio videos to be posted on YouTube this Friday, May 26.

The duo comprised of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn tapped a number of their musical friends to back them at the famed New York City studio on Live At Electric Lady including keyboardist Jenn Wasner (Flock Of Dimes, Wye Oak, Bon Iver), guitarist Mason Stoops and drummers Joe Westerlund and TJ Maiani. Additionally, the Attacca Quartet appears on the EP playing string arrangements composed by Gadriel Kahane.

Sylvan Esso recorded a stirring rendition of “Will The Night” for Live At Electric Lady as a tribute to Low drummer Mimi Parker who passed away last November. Sanborn shared the following in regards to the Low cover:

“Both Amelia and I are huge fans of Low and were so sad to hear about Mimi passing. I can still remember hearing The Curtain Hits The Cast for the first time as a teenager and being immediately struck by ‘Anon’ – they were haunting and visceral in a way I hadn’t ever heard before, and I’m still listening to them all these years later. So this past January, when we were putting the setlist together for the Electric Lady session, I knew we were going to have the Attacca Quartet joining us and immediately thought of covering ‘Will The Night’ as a tribute to Mimi. It’s one of my all time favorites of their songs, beautiful and simple and timeless, a light in the darkness.”
