Sunday Cinema | The Who At Tanglewood 1970

The Who front man Roger Daltrey turns 71 today and he’s still going strong. Daltrey was born in a West London suburb on March 1, 1944. It was Roger who pulled together The Who in 1961 and has been a vital part of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame act ever since. Daltrey’s love of blues and R&B helped develop The Who’s sound and he scored the #61 slot on Rolling Stone’s 2008 list of the 100 Greatest Singers Of All-Time.

To celebrate, we want to look back at The Who’s landmark performance from July 7, 1970 at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. The group was at the height of their powers as they roll through a lengthy setlist that focuses on material from Tommy including a triumphant version of the instrumental “Sparks.” Let’s take a look at the full show footage shared by Music Vault’s The Who channel:
