Sunday Cinema | Nirvana In Utero Tour Visits San Diego 1993

It’s been 20 years since Nirvana released their final studio album, In Utero, which the band’s organization is celebrating by unveiling a box set celebrating the famed LP. In October of 1993 Nirvana hit the road for their first U.S. tour in two years. This time around the band toured as a quartet with the addition of Germs guitarist Pat Smear. On December 29, 1993 the Seattle-based band visited San Diego, CA for what would be their final performance in the Southern California city.

Nirvana’s entire show was filmed by an audience member and the resulting footage gives a good look at what the In Utero Tour was all about. Earlier this year a remastered version of the fan-shot video surfaced on YouTube thanks to DavidLightman5 featuring cleaned up video and sync’d taper audio. We get to see Nirvana perform many songs off In Utero as well as other tunes from throughout their career as well as a pair of covers. Watch 90 powerful minutes of Nirvana in concert:
