The legendary Sun Ra Arkestra will release their first new album in over two decades in early-October through Strut Records. The renowned jazz outfit led by 96-year-old saxophonist Marshall Allen shared a new recording of the Sun Ra classic “Seductive Fantasy.”
The most recent Sun Ra Arkestra album was 1999’s A Song For The Sun, which arrived a few years after Marshall and other members of the band participated in Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio‘s Surrender To The Air project. The original version of “Seductive Fantasy” appeared on the 1979 Sun Ra album, On Jupiter. The updated version, as well as the rest of the forthcoming new album, was recorded at Rittenhouse Soundworks in Philadelphia.
